Privacy &

Confidentiality

At Elra Wellness Group, your privacy is of utmost importance. We are committed to protecting the confidentiality of your personal information and upholding the highest standards of ethical and legal responsibility in accordance with federal and state laws, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Confidentiality in Therapy

The therapeutic relationship is built on trust. All information shared in therapy sessions is held in strict confidence and is not shared with anyone without your written consent—except in specific, legally mandated situations outlined below.

Limits to Confidentiality

While confidentiality is central to the work we do, there are situations where your therapist is legally and ethically required to break confidentiality, even without your consent. These include:

  • Risk of harm to self or others: If you disclose plans or intent to seriously harm yourself or another person, we are required to take appropriate action to protect life and safety.

  • Child abuse or neglect: If there is reason to believe that a child is being abused or neglected, your therapist must report this to child protective services.

  • Elder or dependent adult abuse: Similarly, suspected abuse of an elderly or dependent adult must be reported.

  • Court orders: If your records are subpoenaed by a court of law, we may be required to release specific information as ordered by a judge.

  • Medical emergencies: In cases where disclosure is necessary to ensure emergency medical care, limited information may be shared.

Whenever possible, we will make every effort to discuss these concerns with you before taking any action.

Client Records & HIPAA Compliance

We follow all HIPAA regulations to protect your health information. Your records are securely stored and accessed only by authorized personnel. You have the right to request a copy of your records, restrict access, or ask for corrections as allowed by law.

Electronic Communication

Please note that communication via email, text, or other digital platforms may not be fully secure. We encourage you to use our client portal for scheduling or discussing protected health information whenever possible.

Telehealth Privacy

For clients receiving therapy via telehealth, we use a HIPAA-compliant platform to protect your information. It is your responsibility to secure your environment during sessions to maintain privacy on your end.
